Small Log Store Package

Log Store Plus 20 nets of Kiln Dried Logs, and 1 hand built in the UK Log Store

1 box of natural fire lighters should be ok for this volume of logs, click here to add 1 box of natural firelighters.

Please note the log store comes flat packed and is not assembled by us or our drivers, they are supplied with the screws and nails. These come with the base pre-built, the sides need screwing to the base, then flip over and nail the back boards on. Then simply flip back onto the base and put the pre-made roof on and its done!

This is the best stove wood package for people who have just had a wood burner fitted - the package saves you money and is the perfect ratio of kiln-dried birch nets and pine kindling. We say that one bag of kindling will light 4-5 fires, so if you think you might be short you can add some more kindling by clicking this link to the "Top Ups and Kindling" page. All our kindling is locally sourced from Hambledon in the Surrey Hills.

The logs are 25cm in length and will fit most 5kW stoves and above.

Our Log Stores are made here in the UK and are really sturdy. The principle of how to make a log store are the same, logs to be raised off the floor, protected from the rain above with use of a roof, then for the sides and back to have gaps between the slats to allow air to circulate around the logs to aid further moisture to evaporate. The front is left open to allow air to keep the logs dry. When its rains, the ends of the wood can get wet but will not absorb the rain and the surface will evaporate, as long as the log store is open and allows this. Log stores with doors on will hold moisture in the air when the logs are drying out and could lead to the logs sweating. If we look to

Our log stores can hold 20 nets with out removing the logs, but once removed, you could stack them closer together and get around 24 nets inside, so you could top up and add a few bags of kiln dried logs by clicking here if you like.

How do you use natural wood shaving firelighters?

These are really simple to use. First lay a bed of kindling, place a single natural firelighter on top. Lay 3-4 pieces of kindling over the top in a "tippi" shape and place two small logs over the top of the kindling. Light the natural firelighter and away you go! If you are lighting a stove or fireplace on a cold day, it may help if you use 2 or 3 natural firelighters to help warm the flue quickly, as a warm flue will draw properly once warm. If lighting charcoal or a fire pit when cooking outside, or a wood fired oven using a compressed beech log, then use 3 firelighters, as this will get your fire up to temperature quickly. This is the same for burning smokeless fuel, get the fire as hot as possible at the start so that the flue warms up!

How do I light a fire with kiln-dried logs?

Use at least two firelighters and 5-8 pieces of kindling to generate enough heat to warm your flue. Once the kindling is burning add a couple of smaller kiln-dried logs - as these burn and create a layer of embers you can add a couple of larger logs. Reloading time will depend on the draw and size of your fireplace or wood burning stove - normally you will need to reload every 45 minutes or so.
